When it comes to painting ceilings, often a problem arises with the compatibility of the material from which the ceiling and materials that make up the paint are made. The old ceilings that are covered with oil paints are simply impossible to paint with water -based species, to carry out such work, you need to cover the ceiling first with a layer of plaster and putty. With ceilings that have cracks, it is necessary to cope not only in plaster mixtures, but also to use strips consisting of a special fiberglass.
Cells in size two by two millimeters are suitable for such work. Some use special wallpaper to cover the ceiling surface, designed exclusively for ceilings. These wallpapers are a non -woven canvas, with a significant thickness and made using fiberglass. The wallpaper is glued to the ceiling with ordinary glue.
Prior to this, putty is applied to the fiberglass, and after all these manipulations, the surface is cleaned with sandpaper and is well primed. If the ceiling or walls in the room will be painted with water -based paint, then at first the surface is treated with a diluted composition of this paint, then after drying it is stained with no longer diluted paint.
