Mineral fiber slabs are special coatings for walls and ceiling. They are made of glass wools or fiberglass by compression, adding a binder, such as resin. Along the edges of the slab is edged with metal, which makes them similar to cassettes. Their thickness is approximately 2 cm.
These coatings, as a rule, are used in rooms with relative humidity of not more than 70% and temperature from 18 to 30 degrees Celsius. There are micropores in the plates, thanks to which heat is provided – and sound insulation. As for the texture and color of these products, they can be different. For example, perforated and embossed slabs are used for better sound absorption, and smooth ones to increase the level of illumination. In addition, these coatings provide simple access to the wiring and other communications.
Also produced special acoustic plates from mineral wool. Their peculiarity is that they perfectly absorb the sound (the factor of bearing sound waves can reach 95%). In addition, among their advantages, fire safety and a long service life. These plates are suitable for installation in rooms where temperature changes are and high humidity is possible.
Mineral fiber slabs are selected separately for each room. In this case, the necessary porosity and density are taken into account, as well as the characteristics of sound insulation and air exchange rate.
